Mission

Restore dignity. Break the cycle of poverty.

The Goat Foundation works in solidarity with the vulnerable and excluded widows in society, restoring dignity and breaking the cycle of poverty through productive assets.

Vision

A world without poverty, hunger and injustice.

“A world without poverty, hunger and injustice in which every widow enjoys the right to life with dignity.”

Values: Causeism · Vulnerable widows · Self-reliance · Community partnership

How it works

A goat, a skill, a habit — and a duty to pass it on.

  1. Productive assets

Each widow receives dairy goats, in pairs. Goats are bought from local farmers so the money circulates in the community.

  2. Training

Animal husbandry, financial literacy and a culture of saving — so the asset becomes income, and income becomes ownership.

  3. Pass It On

Once her herd is established, each widow gives the first female kid to another widow. The gift multiplies.

  4. Causeism

The foundation’s founding idea: anyone whose life has been transformed has a duty to transform someone else.
